1. Create Digital Backups
   Scan and store all vital documents (IDs, deeds, insurance, medical records, military papers, etc.) in a secure, encrypted cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud) and/or on a password-protected USB drive.

2. Use Waterproof & Fireproof Safes
   Invest in a portable, fireproof and waterproof safe to store originals — especially documents like birth certificates, social security cards, wills, titles, and financial records.

3. Make Physical Copies
   Store physical photocopies in multiple secure locations — one at home, one with a trusted family member or in a safe deposit box.

4. Organize & Label
   Keep documents in labeled, sealed plastic folders. Use categories like “Identification,” “Property,” “Medical,” “Legal,” and “Insurance” for quick access during evacuation.

5. Prepare a “Grab-and-Go” Folder
   Assemble a small, lightweight folder or binder with essential documents to take with you during an emergency evacuation.

6. Maintain an Inventory List
   Create a written and digital inventory of your documents, with a checklist of where everything is stored — keep this in your phone or planner.

7. Review Annually
   Update your documents and backups at least once a year, or after major life changes (marriage, property purchase, birth, etc.).
